Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, based on the Umm al-Qura calendar, though the exact start date is confirmed only after moon sighting closer to the time. Ramadan Umrah is the most sought-after and most expensive time to travel — indicative pricing from Pakistan for a Ramadan package can exceed PKR 600,000-800,000 per person, well above the PKR 220,000-300,000 range for the same package tier in an off-peak month.
Because dates depend on moon sighting, SafirAvia recommends planning around the expected week rather than a fixed date, and building in flexibility of a day or two on either side of your intended departure.
Why Ramadan Umrah costs more
Two things drive the price up: hotel rates near the Haram rise sharply as demand peaks during the last ten nights in particular, when many pilgrims specifically seek Laylat al-Qadr in Makkah or Madinah; and flights fill early, so airlines raise fares as seats become scarce. A hotel that costs PKR 15,000 a night off-peak can cost two to three times that during the last ten nights of Ramadan.
When to book for Ramadan 2027
Book 8-10 weeks before the expected Ramadan start — meaning by early-to-mid December 2026 for the best hotel selection close to the Haram. Waiting until Ramadan is confirmed by moon sighting usually means the best-located hotels and the most convenient flight times are already gone; earlier booking with a flexible-date policy is the safer approach.
First ten days vs last ten nights
Many families split their preference: the first ten days of Ramadan are calmer, hotel rates are closer to normal, and fasting in Makkah or Madinah is less crowded. The last ten nights are the most spiritually significant for many pilgrims but also the most expensive and the most crowded, particularly around the odd nights when Laylat al-Qadr is sought. Tell us your priority and we will build the itinerary and hotel choice around it.
What a Ramadan package typically includes
Same structure as any SafirAvia Umrah package — Nusuk-registered hotel, visa processed through our licensed operator partner, and return flights — but booked against a much tighter hotel and seat inventory. We recommend confirming your exact travel window (rather than a single date) with us as early as possible, since Ramadan dates shift by a day or two depending on the moon sighting each year.
Fasting and travel considerations
If your group is fasting while travelling, plan arrival times around Iftar and Suhoor where possible, and expect slower movement around the Haram in the hour before Iftar as crowds gather. Pack dates and a light snack for the flight itself in case Iftar falls during travel.
Alternative: off-peak Umrah at lower cost
If Ramadan dates specifically aren't required for your family, an off-peak Umrah in a quieter month costs significantly less for the same hotel tier and is far easier to book on short notice. See our full Umrah cost guide for a month-by-month sense of the price difference.
